Mrs. Simpson knew exactly how my brain worked and how to teach me chemistry. The fact that I made A’s and B’s in that class is a little unthinkable. It’s all because she knew how to teach chemistry in different ways as to understand.

I was fortunate to have so many wonderful teachers during my time at ESD, but a few who really made an impact on me were Mr. York, Ms. Patterson, Mr. Azzi, Ms. Raymond, and Mr. Randall

The best and most impactful teacher I've ever had. I feel so blessed to have been taught by someone so passionate about her students. ESD will miss you dearly!!!!

When I look back through the viewfinder of my time at ESD, I think of throwing a surprise party for Mr. Kimball that went terribly awry and set off the smoke alarm for the whole school while he laughed until he was crying. I think of our theater productions and singing in chapel and Joe Snyder looking at me through the corner of his eye with knowing sarcasm from the piano while he challenged me to try a little harder at my singing gift that came maybe a little too naturally to me. I recall feeling truly smart for the first time thanks to Mrs. Mrozek really SEEING me, my love of the written word - and the emotions I could convey through it.

So many teachers could be mentioned here, but given that she passed away this last year, Dottie DeLaGarza is top of mind. A tremendous teacher with an unmatched passion for her students’ success.

Elaine Biewenga and Suzette Carona both lifted me up and gave me the confidence to explore my creative side, and I am forever grateful for their encouragement.

Rebecca Royal made a huge impact on me! But there were so many great teachers too!
